Computer Course Descriptions

Computer Course Descriptions

MSWord 1 – Basic Word Tools:

This 60-90 minute workshop is designed to deliver entry-level MSWord skills, such as creating,   opening, saving, naming and deleting files; editing files using Copy, Cut Paste, Undo and Find; editing files by modifying font type, size and color; and using simple Tools, such as Spelling & Grammar check to those who have little or no experience with MSWord and little experience using computers.

 

MSWord 2- Intermediate Word Tools:

This 60-90 minute workshop is designed to deliver intermediate-level MS Word skills, such as  inserting pictures/files into documents,  and formatting documents using Header & Footers, and Format tools to students who have basic MSWord skills and some experience with computers.

 

MSWord 3 – Advanced Tools:

This 60-90 minute workshop is designed to deliver advanced MS Word skills, such as creating and modifying Word Tables, using Style options, and using Word Templates, to students who have intermediate-level MSWord skills and experience with computers.

 

MSWord 4 – Mail Merge

This 60-90 minute workshop is designed to deliver advanced MS Word skills, using MSWord Mail Merge Wizard to create a letter for a mass mailing, to students who have intermediate-level MSWord skills and experience with computers.

 

Excel 1 – Basic Excel Tools

This 60-90 minute workshop is designed to deliver entry-level MSExcel skills, such as creating and navigating spreadsheets; editing spreadsheets using Copy, Cut, Paste, Insert, and Delete; use simple tools, such as Sum and Sort, to those who have no experience with MSExcel and little experience using computers.

 

Excel 2 – Intermediate Excel Tools

This 60-90 minute workshop is designed to deliver intermediate-level MSExcel skills, such as applying headers and footers to worksheets; Formatting cells, rows and columns; setting up formulae; and using Freeze/Unfreeze, to students who have basic MSExcel skills and some experience using computers.

 

Excel 3 – Advanced Excel Tools

This 60-90 minute workshop is designed to deliver advanced MSExcel skills, such as using Templates to create financial worksheets, and using the Chart Wizard to students who have intermediate MSExcel skills and experience using computers.


 

PowerPoint 1 – Basic PPT Tools

This 60-90 minute workshop is designed to deliver entry-level MSPowerPoint skills such as: Managing files using create, open, save, name and delete presentations; adding and deleting slides; editing presentations using Copy, Cut, Paste, Headers and Footers; Sort slides; and using Slide Layout and Slide Show, to those who have no experience with MSPowerPoint and little experience using computers.

 

PowerPoint 2 – Intermediate PPT Tools

This 60-90 minute workshop is designed to deliver intermediate-level MSPowerPoint skills, such as inserting pictures, slides and objects into slide shows and Formatting slides using Slide Design, and Background, to those with some experience with PowerPoint and experience using computers.

 

PowerPoint 3 – Advanced PPT Tools

This 60-90 minute workshop is designed to deliver intermediate-level MSPowerPoint skills, such as Using Shapes to create diagrams, and adding special effects to slide shows, to those with some experience with PowerPoint and experience using computers.

 

Intro to Computers

This course is designed for learners for little or no previous knowledge of computers.  Students will be introduced to each part of the computer and their functions.  Strong emphasis will be placed on using the mouse and keyboard portions of the computer.  This course is designed to expand overall basic knowledge of laptop and desktop computers. 

 

Intro to the Internet

This course is for learners with little or no experience with the Internet.  The instructor will explain how to use and understand basic functions associated with using the Internet.  Adult learners will increase their knowledge of the Internet and associated terminology with the aid of the instructor.  Specifically navigation online, using the address box, and finding exact websites will be covered in this class.

 

Setting Up an Email Address Using Yahoo

This class is for adult learners who wish to set up a valid email address via the Internet.  Using Yahoo mail and the help of the Instructor students will create email accounts, use basic functions associated with Yahoo email, and improve overall familiarity of the Internet.

 

Using Search Engines Effectively 

Adult learners will practice using different search methods on various search engines to narrow down results.  Learners who complete this class will have increased knowledge of search engines and associated terminology.  Moreover they will have increased understanding of basic and advanced search engine functions. 

 

Intro to Flickr

The adult learner will create a Yahoo email account if he/she does not have one.  The instructor will then aid learners navigate flickr to identify interesting photographs and photo streams from users around the globe.  At the conclusion of class learners will be able to comment on attention-grabbing photographs.

 

Into to YouTube

This class is for adult learners interested in the video website YouTube.  Using YouTube and help from the Instructor students will learn how to navigate the website, browse video categories, and comment on comical videos.
